Descriptions

Three lengths, written to be pasted as they are. Nothing here spoils the campaign past the first act.

One line

Burn the dead or they come back. A 1-4 player co-op survival horror game.

Short · about 60 words

Cradle of Ash is a first-person survival horror game for one to four players. The town of Ashbrook is sealed behind a quarantine nobody believes, and everything you put down gets back up worse unless the body burns. Ration the fuel, keep the noise down, and do not leave a corpse whole. Coming to Steam in October 2026.

Full · about 200 words

Cradle of Ash is a story-driven first-person survival horror game for one to four players, or for one player alone. You wake in a wrecked coach at the edge of Ashbrook, a company town sealed off behind a chemical-spill quarantine that nobody believes.

Every resident carries something that should never have had a body. Guns put them down. Only fire ends them: anything you drop gets back up in a minute or two, faster and angrier, unless what is left of it burns. Bottles are common. Rags are not. A half-burned body comes back as something that no longer fears fire.

They do not kill you, either. They grab you and drag you toward whatever is making the noise, and a teammate who comes for you can beat the hold loose. Fire does not check whose coat it is burning. A director reads your noise, your light and your fuel, and spends its budget where you are going rather than where you have been.

Six acts, eight to ten hours, one ending, and a truth under the maternity ward at Ashbrook Memorial that goes back a great deal further than the company.

Features

The six things worth a bullet point.

  • The fire economy. Anything you down gets back up unless the body is burned. Fuel is the real currency, and a half-burned body is worse than an unburned one.
  • They take you, they do not kill you. Get caught and you are grabbed and dragged toward the noise. Fight the hold and shout; someone coming for you can break it.
  • Fire does not know you. A burning pool takes whatever stands in it and spreads along what you spilled. The most dangerous thing in Ashbrook is usually the one you lit.
  • Heard before seen. Every enemy is positional in headphones. Direction and distance are the read of every room, and whatever is singing in the dark sings slower the nearer it gets.
  • A director, not a script. No fixed jump-scare loops. It reads your noise, your light, your fuel and how long since you last saw something, and spends where you are going.
  • Six acts, one way out. An 8–10 hour campaign through the suburbs, the hospital, the flooded lower town, the old village and the abbey on the ridge. Sixty documents, twenty tapes, one ending.
